- The Dome
- Originally built for the Millennium celebrations, The Dome is the largest structure of its kind in the world. The circumference of The Dome exceeds 1km, and the floorspace is large enough to park 18,000 London buses!
Address: The Dome sits on the point of the Greenwich peninsula, right on the Meridian Line and just across the Thames from the mouth of the River Lea and the site of the Olympic Park.
- Velopark
- The Velopark will comprise both a Velodrome and an outdoor BMX circuit.
Address: The Velopark will be built in the northern part of the Olympic Park, west of the Olympic Village.
- Villa Park
- Aston Villa have been playing football at Villa Park since 1897, and the ground hosted England international fixtures as long ago as 1899. Villa Park has often been used as a neutral venue for FA Cup semi-finals, including the famous semi-final replay between Manchester United and Arsenal in 1999.
Address: Villa Park is in Birmingham, the second-largest city in the UK. The ground is situated to the east of the city centre, with easy access to the M6 motorway.
- Weald Country Park
- Weald Country Park would host the Mountain Bike events in 2012. The people of Essex have been enjoying the open space of Weald Country Park for more than 700 years, and the remains of an Iron Age settlement have been found on the 500-acre site. Most of the current lakes and tree-lined avenues are the result of landscaping work carried out in the 17th century.
Address: Weald Country Park lies to the east of London, in Essex.
- Wembley
- The new 90,000 capacity Wembley Stadium will be the most advanced sports stadium in the world. The new ground is being built on the site of the world-famous ground that hosted the 1948 Olympic Games and the 1966 World Cup Final. The new stadium's dramatic arch soars over 130m into the west London sky, more than four times the height of the old Twin Towers.
Address: Wembley is situated in north west London, approximately six miles from the city centre. The stadium is served by two tube stations, providing a direct line to central London and the Olympic Park in east London via the Jubilee Line.
- Weymouth and Portland
- Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour provide some of the best natural sailing waters in the UK, with facilities on land to match. The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy offers a members club and courses for sailors of all standards as well as providing all the facilities appropriate for major international events.
Address: The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy is built on the site of a former Naval Air Station at Osprey Quay, on England's south coast. The exposed site at the western end of the English Channel provides excellent facilities for Sailing in all conditions.
- Wimbledon
- Home of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and the setting for the eponymous tennis tournament since 1877, Wimbledon is one of the most famous and historic sporting venues in the world.
Address: Known affectionately by its SW19 postcode, Wimbledon is situated in south west London, near to Richmond Park and the World Heritage Site of Kew Gardens.
